Schelvin Robinson to Texas A&M University–Kingsville
Dr. Schelvin D. Robinson has been appointed Lecturer of Trumpet at Texas A&M University–Kingsville.
Robinson will be teaching a trumpet studio as well as conducting various trumpet ensembles. Prior to his appointment at TAMUK, Robinson was the Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Virginia State University. His VSU Trumpet Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2026 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Rochester, New York.
Robinson completed the Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance at Florida State University concurrently with graduate certificates in Arts Administration and College Teaching. While at FSU, he was awarded the McKnight Fellowship and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the trumpet studio of Dr. Christopher Moore. He performed in various ensembles at FSU in addition to appearing as a soloist with the FSU Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Chandler Wilson. Robinson holds a Master of Music in Performance from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida A&M University. His teachers include Dr. Christopher Moore, Dr. Joyce Davis, and Dr. Longineu Parsons. Robinson has been invited to present sessions at the 2026 Florida Music Education Association Conference, the VSU Band Directors Summer Institute, and various master classes at schools and universities throughout the southeastern United States. Additionally, he has been a featured soloist at Southeastern Trumpet Festivals in both Atlanta and Valdosta, Georgia.
Robinson’s orchestral experience includes performing with the Albany and Ocala Symphony Orchestras and the Big Bend Community Orchestra. He has toured internationally with the Cody Chesnutt Band. Robinson has served as an adjunct faculty member at Florida Memorial University and taught in the Broward County and Miami-Dade County, Florida, school systems. Robinson is the founder of Trumpet Outreach for Youth Education (TOYE), a nonprofit organization that provides free and affordable trumpet lessons, workshops, and performance opportunities for young musicians.
