Ben Gerkins to Eastern Illinois University

Ben Gerkins has been appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Eastern Illinois University.

Ben Gerkins is a trumpet educator and performer based out of Dallas, TX and a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas College of Music. He makes regular appearances with many performing ensembles, including The Dallas Opera and the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. His professional accolades include multiple finalist and first place designations at the National Trumpet Competition and presentations at the International Trumpet Guild Conference. His research interests include pedagogical transcription projects that expand the trumpet solo repertoire with innovative teaching strategies.
