Greater Idaho Trumpet Guild Hosts Trumpet Festival

The Greater Idaho Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild held a trumpet festival on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.

Featured guest artists included Dr. Megan Bailey from Northern Illinois University, Dr. Javian Brabham from New York University, and Dr. Randy Grabowski, recently retired from the University of Northern Iowa. The event featured student performers from Boise State University, as well as Dr. Zach Buie from Boise State University and Dr. Eddie Ludema from Idaho State University. 

Grabowski led a collaborative warm-up session to kick off the day. Bailey coached solo performers on a wide variety of repertoire providing actionable strategies to improve performance and musicianship. Brabham gave an engaging presentation on maintaining healthy chops through efficient practice.

The day culminated with a collaborative recital. The students were led in a large trumpet ensemble performance by Buie. The guest artists and faculty performed as a trumpet quintet and each artist also performed a solo work for a very appreciative audience.
