Angelo Cavallo and Rui Li to International Trumpet Guild Board of Directors
The International Trumpet Guild welcomes Angelo Cavallo and Rui Li to the Board of Directors.
In order to internationalize the Guild as part of ITG's mission to "to promote communications among trumpet players around the world..." each new ITG President is able to make two Board appointments from countries outside the USA. This year, President Jason Dovel has appointed Angelo Cavallo (Italy) and Rui Li (China).
Angelo Cavallo started learning music at a very early age. In 2004 he gained his first Trumpet Diploma at Conservatorio “G. Paisiello” in Taranto and later a Master’s in Music Performance from Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. He has refined his artistry through masterclasses with G. Cassone, S. Burns, A. Vizzutti, J. Lindemann among others. Cavallo’s professional career began in 2004 as Principal Trumpet of the Orchestra I.C.O della Magna Grecia, followed by roles with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and many collaborations with renowned orchestras such as Teatro alla Scala and Haydn Orchestra. He has performed with esteemed conductors and soloists such as D. Gatti, M.W. Chung, J. Valcuha, S. Krylov, D. Trifonov, A. Ciccolini, U. Ughi, S. Bollani. He is also active as a soloist and has recorded for major labels and broadcasters including RAI, RSI, and Vatican Radio. He is trumpet professor of the Italian Trumpet Academy and Conservatorio “L. Marenzio” in Brescia (Italy). Cavallo is a Buffet Crampon Artist and plays B&S, Besson, Scherzer, A. Courtois instruments and Maximal mouthpieces. (Source: Angelo Cavallo)

Rui Li is a member of the trumpet section of the National Centre for Performing Arts Orchestra in Beijing China, where he has played for 10 years. He is the first Chinese citizen to earn a doctorate in trumpet, earning a DMA in performance at the University of Kentucky in 2015. He holds a MM in trumpet performance from SUNY-Stony Brook and earned bachelor's degrees in international politics and business from Peking University in China. Rui was a featured presenter at the 2025 ITG Conference in Salt Lake City, where he presented a master class on free improvisation. Rui is a Yamaha Performing Artist. (Source: Jason Dovel)
