Scott Meredith to Oklahoma City University
Dr. Scott Meredith has been appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Oklahoma City University’s Wanda L. Bass School of Music.
He has previously served on the faculties of the University of Wyoming, University of Northern Colorado, and University of North Texas. Dr. Meredith is currently Principal Trumpet of the Olympia Symphony, Lake Chelan Bach Festival, and Wyoming Symphony. He has also held principal positions with the Port Angeles Symphony, Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, Vashon Opera, and Bellevue Symphony, as well as Third/Assistant Principal Trumpet with Symphony Tacoma. His performing credits include regular engagements with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Auburn Symphony, Yakima Symphony, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and North Corner Chamber Orchestra. Nationally, he has appeared with ensembles such as the Boulder Philharmonic, Cheyenne Symphony, Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony, Oregon East Symphony, Bozeman Symphony, Billings Symphony, San Angelo Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, North Carolina Pops, and many others.
An active presenter and clinician, Dr. Meredith has been featured at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, Wyoming Music Educators Conference, Washington Music Educators Conference, and numerous regional trumpet festivals and workshops. His writing has appeared in the International Trumpet Guild Journal, and he has served as Orchestral Excerpts Competition Chair for the International Trumpet Guild.
He holds both Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas, as well as dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Performance from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Meredith’s discography includes the premiere recording of Jennifer Higdon’s “Trumpet Songs” on the album Chamber Music of Jennifer Higdon, praised by Fanfare Magazine for his “gorgeous tone and sense of phrasing.” (Source: Scott Meredith)
