Western Illinois Brassfest

The Western Illinois brass faculty hosted their 25th anniversary Brassfest on January 22, 2023.  This year's featured guests were the Seven Hills Brass Ensemble from Cincinnati, OH.  The ensemble is under the leadership of Dan Grantham and includes some of the top freelance brass performers in the Cincinnati area.  

 

Western's Brassfest has a long tradition of hosting some of the nation's top brass ensembles including the American Brass Quintet, the Boston Brass, the Dallas Brass, and the Millar Brass Ensemble.  In addition, the festival brought individual clinicians to the Western virtual campus during the pandemic including David Bilger, Elizabeth Freimuth, Amanda Stewart and David Zerkel.  WIU's Brassfest is one of the longest running brass festivals in the nation.
