In Memoriam: Peter Masseurs (1944–2019)

ITG has learned of the passing of the Dutch trumpet player Peter Masseurs.

Masseurs was perhaps best known for serving as principal trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam (Netherlands). He studied at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp and served as a trumpeter in the Marine Band of the Royal Navy. In addition to his work as an ensemble performer, he was also well-regarded as a soloist, having appeared as a soloist with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, the Asko Ensemble, the Schönberg Ensemble, the Viotta Ensemble, the Amsterdam Bach soloists, and the Ebony Band. Many composers wrote works for him, perhaps most notably Otto Ketting, who wrote Intrada for Masseurs in 1958.

Masseurs was born July 24, 1944, and passed away January 5, 2019.
